Our own interests are related to the environment, to ecology and we explore a ’more than human’ perspective. The garden is therefore an important aspect of the whole project. It is a city garden and relatively small and with its entrance on the street side, which also makes it a semi-public garden. It has a half-open terrace and there are remnants of a pizza-oven. All references to the humble beginnings of House Belsito.
We asked our friends Hans Engelbrecht, an ecologist and gardener, and Frank Bruggeman, an artist who works with plants either dead or alive, to develop an approach for that piece of garden and for the balconies and terraces. The first steps have been made. While Frank focuses on the possibilities of those windy terraces, Hans in the company of Harm Bron and Marcia de Graaff embraces the orphaned garden. They aim to transform it into an ecological garden. Detail: the garden, like the house itself, is situated on top of an ancient and very stony wall!
